Caring for Your Frost Resin Pen
🖋️ Caring for Your Frost Resin Pen
Preserve the story. Protect the pour.
Each Frost Pen is a layered artifact—crafted with precision, pigment, and myth. Whether you wield a relic from the Skyfade series or a limited pour from The Last Sunrise, proper care ensures your pen remains radiant and functional for years to come.
✨ Routine Cleaning (Weekly or After Heavy Use)
Purpose: Remove ink residue, prevent staining, and maintain flow.
Steps:
- Disassemble with care
- Unscrew the nib section from the barrel.
- If your pen uses a converter or cartridge, remove it gently.
- Flush the nib
- Use a bulb syringe or converter to flush lukewarm distilled water through the nib until clear.
- Avoid tap water if your area has high mineral content—it can cloud resin over time.
- Clean the barrel
- Wipe the inside with a lint-free cloth or rinse with distilled water (no soap).
- Never soak the entire pen—especially multi-layered pours with embedded elements.
- Dry thoroughly
-
- Air dry all components upright on a clean towel.
- Ensure no moisture remains before reassembly.
🧼 Deep Cleaning (Monthly or Ink Change)
Purpose: Remove stubborn ink, pigment buildup, or glitter residue.
Steps:
- Nib soak (if needed)
- Soak the nib section in distilled water for 1–2 hours.
- For shimmer or pigment-heavy inks, add a drop of pen-safe cleaner (e.g., Goulet Pen Flush).
- Agitate gently
- Swirl the nib in water—never shake or tap against hard surfaces.
- Inspect for residue
- Use a soft brush (like a watercolor brush) to clean around the feed if buildup persists.
- Final flush and dry
- Repeat flushing until water runs clear.
- Dry completely before reassembly.
🚫 What to Avoid
- No alcohol or acetone – These can damage resin and cloud embedded pigments.
- No ultrasonic cleaners – Vibrations may disrupt layered pours or embedded relics.
- No dish soap – Surfactants can leave residue or react with shimmer inks.
🧤 Collector’s Tip
Store your pen horizontally when not in use, especially if inked. Vertical storage can cause ink to settle in the nib or dry out prematurely. For relic domes or embedded lore pens, avoid direct sunlight to preserve pigment vibrancy.
